Uplink Unified Ops Center adds a focused operations panel to the WordPress admin bar. It brings content, media, templates, patterns, site architecture, installed plugins, builder resources, and administrator-defined quick links into one searchable interface.

The plugin works with WordPress on its own and adapts when Bricks or Etch is active. Builder-aware actions open the most useful editor for the current environment while keeping direct WordPress editing and viewing links available.

Instead of replacing WordPress screens or builder features, Ops Center adds a consistent navigation layer on top of them. Administrators decide which sections appear, which content types are included, which roles may use the panel, and whether users may personalize its appearance.

Better performance by default in 1.5.0

Ops Center now loads each inventory when you open its section instead of building every list when the panel opens. Content and Media load 50 items per page by default. This reduces panel-opening work and memory use on sites with large libraries. Search, total counts, and page navigation remain available. Administrators can choose 10, 25, 50, 75, or 100 items per page, load a selected section in full, or restore the earlier load-everything behavior under Content Type Menus > Panel inventory loading.

  • Show provider labels only when multiple tools contribute to the same category.
  • Provide direct Edit and Add New actions when the detected provider supports them.

Plugin management

  • Browse all installed plugins or filter to configurable plugins.
  • Open a plugin’s registered configuration screen when one is available.
  • Activate or deactivate plugins through AJAX without leaving Ops Center.
  • Refresh the affected plugin row after a state change so its actions remain current.
  • Restrict plugin state changes to users with the required WordPress capabilities.

Access and appearance controls

  • Choose the roles that may access Ops Center.
  • Enable or disable panel sections and individual public content types.
  • Use administrator-controlled appearance defaults or allow selected roles to personalize the interface.
  • Configure light and dark palettes, base font size, text weight, and heading size, weight, and capitalization.
  • Keep site-wide appearance controls on a dedicated settings screen.
  • Reset appearance values to the bundled accessible defaults.
  • Use the bundled Inter variable font with no external font request.
  • Remove all plugin options, transients, and user appearance metadata on uninstall.

Privacy

Uplink Unified Ops Center does not collect analytics, track users, or send site data to an external service. It bundles fonts, logos, scripts, and styles locally. External resources and quick-link destinations are opened only when a user chooses those links.

Installation

  1. Install Uplink Unified Ops Center from the WordPress plugin directory, or upload the plugin zip from Plugins > Add Plugin > Upload Plugin.
  2. Activate the plugin.
  3. Open Ops Center > Settings.
  4. Confirm the detected builder, enabled panel sections, content types, and allowed roles.
  5. Configure the site-wide appearance defaults and decide whether selected roles may personalize them.
  6. Open Ops Center > Resources to manage builder resources and quick links.
  7. Use the Ops Center item in the WordPress admin bar to open the panel.

Frequently asked questions

Does Ops Center require Bricks or Etch?

No. It works with WordPress on its own. When Bricks or Etch is active, Ops Center detects the builder and adds the relevant editing and resource actions.

Does the plugin replace the WordPress admin menu or a page builder?

No. Ops Center is a navigation and workflow layer. It links to existing WordPress and builder screens rather than replacing their editing features.

Which users can see Ops Center?

Administrators have access by default. An administrator can allow additional WordPress roles from Ops Center > Settings.

Can users activate or deactivate plugins from the panel?

Yes, when the Plugins button is enabled and the current user has WordPress permission to activate plugins. State changes happen through AJAX and the affected row refreshes without taking the user to the Plugins screen.

How does Ops Center find a plugin’s Settings screen?

It uses the finalized WordPress admin menu and the plugin’s registered action links. A Settings action is shown only when a real configuration destination can be identified.

Which content architecture tools are supported?

The Site Architecture section can discover supported objects from ACF, Meta Box, ACPT, JetEngine, and Etch. Only active, detected providers are used.

Does Ops Center change my posts, templates, or builder data?

No. Browsing and opening items does not alter their content. Ops Center sends users to the existing editor or management screen for the selected object.

Why is a new media upload not visible immediately?

Open the Media pane again. Its inventory refreshes through AJAX whenever the pane opens, so recent uploads should appear without reloading the entire admin page.

Can I hide sections I do not use?

Yes. Administrators can disable templates, patterns, resources, quick links, plugins, Site Architecture, and individual content-type menus.

Can the light and dark interface be customized?

Yes. Administrators can configure both palettes, base font size, text weight, and heading weight. They may also permit selected roles to save personal appearance preferences.

Does the plugin load fonts, scripts, or styles from a CDN?

No. Inter, the plugin logo, builder marks, scripts, and styles are included in the plugin package.

What data is removed when the plugin is uninstalled?

Uninstalling removes Ops Center options, transients, and user-specific appearance metadata. Deactivation alone preserves settings unless the administrator enables the optional cleanup-on-deactivation setting.

Why does the plugin require WordPress 7.0 or newer?

WordPress 7.0 is the minimum supported major release. WordPress.org metadata does not accept patch versions in this field, so sites should remain updated to the latest security release available for their WordPress branch.

The folder and text domain use the stable uplink-unified-ops-center slug. The WordPress.org-facing plugin name is Uplink Unified Ops Center.
